Abstract
A new method for the measurement of surface and interfacial tensions is described. This is based on video digitising techniques to measure drop profile coordinates and a least square computer fit analysis of drop shapes. The use of a large number of drop coordinates results in an overall precision comparable to the spatial image resolution. Transient interfacial tension measurements can be determined with this method which requires 64 ms for image acquisition.
